I was excited to see Hayao Miyazaki's new movie Ponyo, and wondered why Uke called the fish girl Ponyo. Does that mean something special?
Ponyus is an onomatopoeia based on Miyazaki's idea of what light candy should taste like.
What does a pony mean?

I have heard that it is a slang / onomatopoeic term. Thus, what spreads / spreads becomes pony pony.
